My name is Uyen Vo. I'm a myotherapist and remedial massage therapist with 10 years of hands-on practice. I started Myo Means Muscle in order to provide a professional, and highly practical clinic to myself and other therapists to join the team. Especially, the clinic will be a place like home for the locals in the Northern Melbourne suburbs to help revitalise and restore their body balance.
For the first few years of practice, despite having compliments for my hands-on skills from clients and mentors, I found it confusing and challenging at times with the conflicting scientific evidence of massage therapy, its labor requirement and its ethical dilemmas.
Over the time, I've learned different approaches to help a person to improve their soft tissue problems and quality of life with hands-on therapy. Clients’ positive feedback have reinforced me to keep massage therapy in my myotherapy practice. I started to look at massage therapy as a gate-way for me to learn about the client as well as to improve the client's awareness of their mind and body. Dry needling, cupping and client education are also in my practical toolbox.
I've had many years of experience working with sport people for event preparation and recovery, health professionals, pregnant women, daily office workers, people with chronic disease management and so on. With a nursing background, i'm specifically interested in general health promotion within myotherapy scopes of practice; and what remedial massage therapy may help with chronic disease management.
